3 things you need to know when buying art online

So you are looking for art for your space or you've found a piece that really speaks to you but you are nervous about buying art online. AND SO YOU SHOULD BE! The internet is a scary place and not everyone is in it with their customers at heart.

Don't worry i got your back! Here are 3 things you need to know when buying art online.

    1. Sizing

Sometimes when uploading a picture of a painting in a staged environment the sizing can become out of proportion. Check the sizing and measure in your intended space. Cutting a piece of large paper or a cardboard box and placing it on your wall will give you a better view of the sizing if you are a visual person like me.

    4. Shipping

Does your artist show the way they ship their paintings? We've alllll seen it... the videos of postmen throwing the boxes to your front door. When spending ALOT of money and having your heart set on a painting you need to be asking how they are packaging, what courier they are sending it with, and is there insurance!?

    5. Print options

If you aren't sure about buying an original, some artists offer a cheaper option called a "print". This is a replica of their artwork, usually printed on matte/sheen archival paper or canvas. Some artists offer exclusive prints (only a set amount sold), which will hold some value. Print options are great if you have a limited budget, or want to order a small version and check colours etc before buying the original.
